Former Arsenal striker Carlos Vela insists he has not considered a return to north London at the end of the season, despite having a buy-back option in his Real Sociedad contract.
The Mexico international quit the Gunners last summer after struggling to break into the Arsenal team, but had a buy-back clause inserted in his deal with the Spanish side.
However after a successful first term in La Liga, in which the 24-year-old has scored 12 goals in 27 appearances for Real Sociedad, Vela says he has no intention of returning to the Emirates.
‘Arsenal are a big team who gave me the opportunity to play in Europe. I will always remember that, but I didn’t have the opportunities that I felt I deserved,’ he said.
‘I am very happy here [at Real Sociedad] and would like to stay here.’
Vela had several loan spells, including time with both Sociedad and West Brom, during his six years at Arsenal, making just 62 appearances for Arsene Wenger’s side.
