Arsenal set to break their transfer record to sign Fiorentina finisher Stevan Jovetic

Stevan Jovetic could hasten a summer move to Arsenal by firing holes in England’s World Cup qualification plans next week.
The Montenegro marksman has been linked with a switch to the Gunners which would smash their transfer record as Arsene Wenger seeks to transform his squad.
Arsenal’s biggest payment for a player was the £15million handed to Zenit St Petersburg for Andriy Arshavin and the Russian is likely to be sold to Fulham or his former club as part of a cull at the Emirates.
Fiorentina striker Jovetic is one of Wenger’s top transfer targets and it is believed the Arsenal manager is willing to pay £20million to sign him.
But he faces competition from Manchester City and Juventus, who are also lining up bids according to sources in Italy.
Arsenal have apparently stepped up their interest in Jovetic and failure to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League has only increased the desire to bring new zest to a lacklustre attack.
The 6ft 23-year-old former Partizan forward has scored 12 times in 27 appearances this season to help the Viola to fourth place in Serie A
Jovetic will be closely scrutinised in next week’s World Cup qualifier with Roy Hodgson’s team when he will play alongside Juventus striker Mirko Vucinic.
The Juve hitman, however, is stating a strong case for his friend to join him in Turin after launching a charm offensive.
‘We play close together in the national side and we often switch positions with each other,’ said Vucinic. ‘I would like to do that at Juve as he is a countryman and a really strong player.’
