DAVID BECKHAM was at the centre of a fiery Le Classique clash last night

But he began to fade after the break on what was his first start since LA Galaxy’s MLS Cup final triumph on December 1.
Ahead of the game, French sports paper L’Equipe published a picture of Becks with the headline ‘Bonne Pioche’, which translates as ‘bargain’.
Although his £160,000-a-week wages are going to a children’s charity, you would not call the bill for his hotel suite in Paris a bargain.
It is costing an eye-watering £15,000 a night.
Like his former Manchester United team-mate Ryan Giggs, gone are the days when Beckham plays out wide.
As expected, Becks — wearing the No 8 shirt — was operating in the anchorman role in midfield.
His first decent pass opened up the opposition defence but Kevin Gameiro’s cross failed to reach a blue shirt.
Beckham then infuriated Marseille with a quickly-taken free-kick which released Jeremy Menez but he wasted the chance.
The visitors surrounded the ref, arguing that Beckham should have waited for a whistle.
There was even a piece of cheeky skill when he flicked the ball over Ayew before running around him and continuing on a run.

Barton had steered clear of Becks, then on as a sub, when PSG saw off Marseille 2-0 in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
And it was the same story last night until the 25th minute when Barton swung his right boot and sent Becks sprawling.
Ibrahimovic opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, squeezing the ball under Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda.
And he added the second in the 64th minute from the spot after he was fouled by Jeremy Morel to keep PSG on course for a ninth Coupe de France success.
