England U21s win in Serbia amid ugly scenes

England U21s win in Serbia amid ugly scenes

England's U21s qualified for Euro 2013 thanks to a 1-0 victory in Serbia but the match ended amid ugly scenes in Krusevac.

England, who were 1-0 up from the first leg, clinched the victory in the dying seconds when Connor Wickham scored on a breakaway after the entire Serbian team had come forward for a corner.
The late development seemed to anger the home fans who appeared to direct racist abuse at England's black players.
Danny Rose reacted to the abuse by kicking a ball into the crowd and he was then sent-off for his actions.
As he left the field he mimicked a monkey in reference to the abuse he was getting from the Serbian fans and scuffles broke out around the pitch.
England manager Stuart Pearce confirmed after the match that they had complained to UEFA about the abuse.
