He said: “Doping control officers at UEFA do not take blood, only urine. I have asked many times for this to be changed.
“Sometimes you have to wait for two hours after a match, so blood could be a lot quicker.
“I hope we do not have a big problem with doping but we have to try to find out and see how deep we go into control.
“UEFA are ready to do it but it poses some ethical problems because everyone has to accept that they will check the blood and not everybody is ready to do that.”
Spanish doc Eufemiano Fuentes revealed he had a list of clients in football as well as cycling as he stands trial accused of masterminding a doping ring.
And Australia has been rocked this week after a year-long investigation revealed widespread doping across multiple sports Down Under.
Wenger added: “I don’t think we do enough. It is very difficult for me to believe that you have 740 players in the World Cup and you come out with zero problems.
“What I’m concerned about in the trial of the Spanish doctor is that he is in court just to see how he did doping. They are not interested at all in who he has doped.”
